Capstone: a defensible treasury design

Compare options and write a decision that another person can challenge.

By the end, you’ll be able to…

  • Produce a dependency-aware architecture and recovery plan.
  • Make a reasoned no-action decision when evidence is insufficient.
Your learning map

Three questions to carry into this lesson.

01Produce a dependency-aware architecture and recovery plan.
02Make a reasoned no-action decision when evidence is insufficient.
Use these goals to guide your reading. Try the paper exercise, then explain the result in your own words.

Begin with a concrete service need

A fictional kitchen wants reliable supplier payments and public accountability. Its goal is service continuity, not a target yield. Define the operating horizon, authorized people, available skills, privacy needs and restricted purposes. None of the invented amounts in the exercise represent Satnam Satoshi funds or a proposal to allocate a real person’s assets.

Compare four distinct arrangements

Analyze native BTC held under a documented custody policy, Lightning operating liquidity, a BTC-linked token on another chain and a collateralized loan in USDC. For each, list settlement rules, controlling parties, recovery inputs, liquidity constraints, liabilities and exit conditions. Add doing nothing or using an existing noncrypto payment method as a legitimate comparator. A preferred technology does not remove the need to meet the service requirement.

Finish with evidence and acceptance gates

Write what is known, what depends on a provider and what requires specialist review. Require a nonvaluable recovery exercise, accurate accounting, clear human authority and an independently checked deployment before any operational proposal. Have another learner attempt to falsify the design by removing a signer, price feed or front end. The completion standard is a transparent, revisable argument. It is not a certificate of expertise, proof of financial suitability or permission for an agent to execute it.

Your turn / A paper experiment

Practice on paper

Draft a one-page decision with purpose, alternatives, dependencies, failure scenarios, human owner and unresolved questions. What is a valid outcome if redemption or recovery cannot be established?

I’ve tried it — show the worked answer

A valid outcome is no deployment or no allocation until the missing evidence is obtained. The report should identify the unresolved dependency, responsible reviewer and acceptance condition instead of inventing confidence or treating delay as failure.

Think it through

Make a choice. Discover why.

Choose an answer and check the explanation. You can retry as often as you like. These are practice questions, not a test of mastery; answers are not saved or sent.

1. Must a capstone choose a lending strategy to pass?
  • Yes
  • No
Read the explanation

No. A well-supported decision not to use a system is valid.

2. Does course completion authorize real treasury operations?
  • Yes
  • No
Read the explanation

No. Operational authority and independent review are separate.

One idea to take with you

Sovereignty is a practiced ability to understand, verify and responsibly choose.
