A multiple is a method, not a verdict.

Two mNAV figures can disagree because their formulas or cutoffs differ.

  1. Market value

Identify the security, price and share-count basis.

  2. Asset value

Use the holdings and asset price from compatible cutoffs.

  3. Adjustments

Explain cash, debt and preferred claims before comparing multiples.

Before you concludeState the numerator, denominator and treatment of debt and dilution.

mNAV is not a universal formula. A useful valuation desk shows the method before the number: equity value or enterprise value, gross or adjusted asset value, securities included, prices and the common cutoff.

The notebook / 01

Show the calculation

Write down the chosen numerator and denominator explicitly. If debt, cash or preferred claims are included, state whether their values are market, face, liquidation or another convention. A seemingly precise multiple can hide incompatible definitions.

An input changed after the cutoff cannot be spliced into an older snapshot without relabeling the result. Search snippets without a dependable observation time do not establish a current valuation.

Keep issuer terminology attributed

Strategy’s notes describe its own definitions and their limitations. Its supplementary Bitcoin metrics are not substitutes for financial statements. Those definitions are a primary reference for that issuer; they do not automatically standardize every treasury company.

Saved observations are dated records, not continuously live values. Software releases retain their original publication dates. Holdings do not establish fund flows; rates and market access require separate current checks.

  • S06 / S23. The 846,000 BTC indexed extract conflicts with the reference’s Strategy primary-page figure of 847,666 BTC. No synchronized valuation is asserted.
  • The source was a search-index extract, not a captured live terminal. Its Strategy-page title changed between reads. These values must not be treated as current.
  • The reference distinguishes equity mNAV (market capitalization / gross BTC value), enterprise mNAV ((market cap + debt + preferred − cash) / BTC value), and common NAV. These are methodological examples; actual issuer definitions and capital-stack dates need their own versioned reconciliation.
